In the past, I have talked about how Open Studios is a great chance for you to get a peek into the artist's workspace and see their creating process. This year, there are 64 local artists participiating across Lexington and Richland Counties. What I like most about this event is how inclusive it is to a broad range of art: ceramics, mixed media, textiles, jewelry, photography, sculpture, painting, abstract, and more.

How does it work? Pick up a guidebook at your local art venue, independent business, and other SC organizations (they will be distrubuted statewide!). Or, you can download a digital map on COS website. Chose which artists appeal to you, hop in the car, and go. Best part? It's free fun! A perfect outing for the family or a group of friends. It's a great way to explore your local city and the surrounding areas. You never know what you may discover on the way to each artist's location.

Want to get a sneak peek at each artist participating? Come to the Columbia Open Studios Preview Party!

Columbia Open Studios Preview Party is a ticketed event Thursday, March 30, 2017, 7-9 PM where guests can meet participating artists, see some of their work, and view 701 CCA’s exhibition of film and video productions by Greenville, SC artist Jeff Sumerel, enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Tickets are $10 for 701 CCA members and $15 for non-members. Tickets: https://www.columbiaopenstudios.org/preview-party/
