Introducing Shades of Pinck
Hello, Fig readers!
My name is Megan Pinckney, and although I was born and raised in Charleston, I have been a resident of Columbia ever since I became a Gamecock almost a decade ago!
Growing up, if I wasn’t in school, I was usually taking a dance class. I began ballet training at the age of five, gave a few other forms a try, and then reached my dance career peak when I joined Carolina’s dance team. But now that the only time I’m ever even close to feeling like a dancer again is when I’m at Pure Barre in Five Points, I choose to actively support the art form by serving on the Columbia City Ballet’s Board of Directors.
While in high school I was introduced to pageantry and the Miss Universe Organization. Since then I have held several titles, my most notable being Miss South Carolina Teen USA and Miss South Carolina USA. In 2013, I competed in the Miss USA pageant where I placed in the top 5—something I will forever be proud of.
Now, I help coordinate the Fantasy Camp, a girl’s self-esteem and leadership boot camp, during the state pageants in North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, and Alabama.
While in college studying fashion merchandising, the travel bug bit me when I studied abroad in Italy. From that moment on, I knew all I wanted to do was visit every section of the globe and experience the best parts of it. Since then I have visited parts of Europe, the Caribbean, Asia, and have been all throughout the US.
I believe in champagne for breakfast and every other meal, that leopard print is a neutral at all times of the year, and that life is only what you make of it! I enjoy a good party amongst good friends, reading Vogue magazine on exotic beaches, and taking pictures worth repining on Pinterest.
